WHY WE DO IT

Rāngai will transform the way young and adult students learn, providing real  experience partnered with tertiary education.

+ We are based in Tairāwhiti, where there is a pool of smart and motivated rangitāhi who are seeking new opportunities.

+ We work with existing tertiary providers to deploy the multi-year courses. Educating students in emerging technologies using a hands-on approach, underpinned by work on real commercial projects.

+ We provide effective pathways that lead to work placements with local and international companies.

+ We take responsibility for finding wage support for our students, so hiring them is commercially beneficial for business and results in high-paying jobs.

+ We partner with like minded companies in our cluster to achieve our goals.

+ WHY PRODUCTION

The television production industry continues to grow amid upheaval in the media landscape.

The number of digital original series has increased exponentially as a result of increasing investment by streaming services, and this growth is driving a hiring boom for suitably skilled people.

+ TELL ME MORE

Rāngai is located in Gisborne, Tairāwhiti. We own and occupy a multi-use studio and education space.

Our built-for-purpose facility houses EIT's Diploma in Screen Production, for students to learn in a commercial environment. Operating 7 Days we fit commercial activity, community opportunity and education side by side. With two weekly live broadcasts, an esport hub operating in the evenings  and studio hire, utilisation is high.

We expect the facility to:

+ Operate 7 days a week, transforming from education to commercial or community use as the schedule allows.

+ Be commercially sustainable and shift the cost burden of education, off the students and onto the industry.

+Provide a world class serviced facility supporting access to modern digital workflows, studio and production tools and facilitating commission of the student workforce.

+ Provide the flexible learning spaces needed to be creative and inspired.

+ Rāngai offers the community the opportunity to watch and participate in the fast-moving world of esports. Utilising our computer labs for competition, audiences can occupy the large adjoining
space and tournaments will be live broadcast weekly.

+ For the independent producer, it is a location to source the additional resources they require be that technology or talent.

The doors of Rāngai will always be open to talented people.
